The seven faculties of the university offer approx. 140 study programs from the fields of engineering and natural sciences, economics and business, planning sciences, humanities and the social sciences. In 2017/18 TUB had 35,000 enroled students, nearly 33 per cent of them women and approx. 23 per cent foreign citizens, making TUB one of the largest and most international universities of technology in Germany.

The Technische Universität Berlin is one of the leading research universities in Germany. We have seen a continuous rise in third-party funding and set up a cluster and a graduate school thanks to the award of Excellence competition funding. We also rank highly in international league tables and have received numerous prizes and accolades including Alexander von Humboldt Professorships, Leibniz Awards and grants from the European Research Council. TU Berlin's research activities are structured around six areas of specialization and informed by our competencies and social responsibilities. Our international reputation and special profile as a university bringing together technical subjects with the humanities, economics, and social and planning sciences provide a firm basis for interdisciplinary research. This takes place most notably in number of successful collaborative projects.

PhD Studies

TU Berlin offers both the "traditional" model of individual supervision and a growing number of doctoral programs offering joint supervision, an academic program, as well as transferable skills training. Such programs are funded by the Excellence Initiative, the German Research Foundation (DFG), various other foundations, as well as TU Berlin itself.
